Volume 5

A dangerous swordsman threatens the Hōzōin monks, setting the stage for a confrontation at the temple. Musashi's presence draws attention as old rivalries and new challenges collide.

Violence erupts around Hōzōin as Musashi's fierce temperament meets equally formidable opponents. The temple becomes a proving ground for fighters determined to demonstrate their strength.

Musashi encounters Inshun, a brilliant young master of the Hōzōin spear. The speed and precision of Inshun's technique promise a very different challenge from sword fighting.

As the confrontation intensifies, Musashi must defend more than his pride. Every movement carries mortal consequences, bringing the value of life into sharp focus.

An unfamiliar sense of unease begins to unsettle Musashi. Facing Inshun's extraordinary command of the spear, he struggles to trust the instincts that have always carried him through battle.

The brutal resolve that once gave Musashi confidence comes under scrutiny. As pressure mounts, his ferocity threatens to become a weakness against a composed and highly trained adversary.

For the first time in a long while, Musashi confronts fear in its most immediate form. The prospect of death forces him to question the difference between courage and reckless pride.

Inshun's overwhelming technique pushes Musashi further beyond his comfort zone. His body and mind struggle to respond as the battle exposes the limits of raw aggression.

With his confidence shattered, Musashi faces the consequences of confronting a superior opponent. The ordeal leaves him with an unsettling understanding of the work still ahead.
