Series 16

Avril was 15 when she placed her daughter for adoption in 1964. She has carried the pain of that separation with her since, and now she is dreaming of finally seeing her again. Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell also investigate the case of Marie, who was raised by her grandparents and has never known her father. As a train conductor, she meets strangers every day and wonders whether they could be related to her. She now yearns for answers.

Two people search for the sisters their mothers never wanted to place for adoption. Before Michael's mother passed away, she asked him to find the daughter she placed for adoption as a baby. Michael believes he matched with her on a DNA website and is desperate to find her. Years earlier, Melissa's mother told her about an older sister who had been adopted as a baby. Now, with her mother's early onset dementia diagnosis, Melissa is in a race against time to find her sister before it's too late.

At 77, Pat is looking for the son she gave up for adoption when she was just 15. After discovering she could have no more children naturally, the search has become something more than just curiosity. She wants her only son to know, before it’s too late, that she has always loved him. Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell take on the search with the programme’s specialist researchers.

Liz searches for her birth mother and an older brother who she knows was also adopted as a baby. Naomi searches for her birth mother and twin sisters. Michael searches for his sister to fulfil his mother's dying wish, and Melissa longs to reunite her mother with her sister - before it's too late. Presented by Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell, the series offers a last chance for people who are desperate to find long lost relatives. The series helps a handful of people, some of whom have been searching in vain for many years, find the family members they are desperately seeking. It explores the background and context of each family's estrangement and tracks the detective work and often complex and emotional process of finding each lost relative before they are reunited. With the help and support of Davina and Nicky, each relative is guided and supported through the process of tracing the member of their family they have been desperately seeking, in some cases for most of their lives.
