Overview
Nuru informs Jendal that the rebels have broken through the Batanga soldiers' blockade and are on their way to the palace. Chinua reveals to Alika that the battle for Batanga has begun. Dona Menina foresees war in Batanga and comforts Caetana, who is grieving for Tonho. Jendal and José/Zambi command their armies. Ladisa is wounded in combat, and Akin despairs. Omar wounds Jendal. Chinua and Oruka recognize Tonho.
