Overview

Brian Stead returns to Berlin for talks on a gas field that extends into East Germany, where the Soviet enterprise Sovneftprom is also present, ostensibly for a trade fair. His former wartime driver, Joachim Schmitt-Klever, attempts blackmail and feeds the West German press a false story about Stead and captured Afrika Korps maps, prompting the West Germans to walk out. Then Nina Kapler approaches Stead with a request.
