Overview
A junior secretary, Ann Rendell, is sacked after £800 goes missing from the handbag of Gladys West, who has served as Brian Stead's secretary for years. Unhappy that she was dismissed without an inquiry, Willy Izard looks into the case himself. The Wests' lavish lifestyle arouses his suspicions about her husband George, a company geologist, and he enlists Peter Thornton to examine George's work at the Goring laboratory.
