Alec Stewart and Brian Stead are negotiating to buy the British arm of the Vornkind Group, a deal that would hand Mogul more than a third of Britain's plastics trade. Uneasy about the market dominance it would create and about plans to sidestep the regulators, Willy Izard ignores his wife Joan's advice and leaks the deal to journalist Mary Fielding. The story soon puts the monopoly question before the Board of Trade.
