Season 3

In the first of a new series, Bill Oddie visits Somerset in spring, a time when the thoughts of all wild creatures turn to love. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, and Bill is in seventh heaven, as he watches badgers by twilight, little owls by day, and enjoys the 'after-dawn chorus', as the birds continue to sing all day! He also ventures into the woodland canopy to come face to face with a baby heron, or, as he dubs him, "Little Erne".

Red squirrels inhabiting a local park, birdsong played in the underground, ocean-going kittiwakes, Atlantic salmon and otters in an urban nature reserve are some of the wildlife surprises awaiting Bill Oddie on a visit to Tyneside

On a summer break to the Norfolk Broads, Oddie hunts for the rare Norfolk hawker dragonfly, marsh harriers, and Britain's biggest butterfly, the magnificent swallowtail. He also comes face to face with two of his favourite species of bird -the kingfisher and the barn owl.

Kent may be crowded, but it has plenty of wildlife. Oddie's tour of the county known as "the garden of England" includes encounters with marsh frogs, orchids, one of Britain's most beautiful butterflies -the Adonis blue - and a wild boar.

On a trip to south-west Ireland, Oddie searches for the Irish hare and then, using a book given to him as a birthday gift, visits locations allegedly inhabited by fairies. He also takes a boat trip out on the Atlantic to visit an abandoned monastery that is now home to thousands of seabirds.

Bill Oddie visits the remote island group of St Kilda in Scotland's Outer Hebrides, where he finds an abandoned village, a million sea birds and a unique breed of sheep.

Oddie takes to the air to view the stunning beauty of Loch Lomond. Back on the ground he observes spectacular seasonal fungus displays and salmon leaping up waterfalls. But will he be lucky enough to spot two of Scotland's most charismatic creatures, the red deer and the golden eagle?
