Biography
Flaviano Quispe Chaina studied education at the Universidad San Antonio Abad del Cusco, where he was a member of the university theater group. He later pursued studies in film and television production at the Center for Tele-education (Cetuc) of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and in acting at the Club de Teatro de Lima. He directed several short films before making his first feature film, El abigeo (2001), based on the short story "Ushanan-jampi" by Enrique López Albújar. Three years later, he directed El huerfanito (2004), which, in 2005, became the first film from the provinces to receive a commercial theatrical release in Lima. In 2006, he won the inaugural Feature Film Project Competition for the Regions—organized by Conacine—with his project Sobrevivir en los Andes. In September 2008, he released his third feature film, El hijo del viento (also screened under the title Buscando a papá).
