The First

Overview

Who Was Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis? An archbishop. A monk. The Bishop of Vilnius. A diplomat. A reformer. Above all, a man who sought to remain faithful to God in a world divided by conflict and hostility. The documentary *The First* invites us to rediscover Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis not as a distant historical figure, but as a complex and inspiring person whose legacy remains relevant today. Through history, biography, and personal testimonies of faith and graces received through his intercession, the film reveals a man who was a pioneer in many fields. Yet his greatest achievement may have been his ability to unite people in times of division. In 2027, Lithuania will commemorate the centenary of his death and celebrate the Year of Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis and the Concordat between Lithuania and the Holy See. *The First* is an invitation to rediscover a life that belongs not only to history.
